Highlights
This itinerary focuses on a lesser-visited, but culturally, scenically and wildlife-rich region of South Africa: KwaZulu-Natal. The region is home to two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: the iSimangaliso Wetland Park and the uKhahlamba Drakensberg Park. The itinerary starts off at Spioenkop, where Winston Churchill fought alongside the British Army. Whilst here, visit the Spioenkop nature reserve on walks or horseback, where wildlife includes various antelope species, giraffe and rhino. The Northern Drakensberg mountain range offer some superb hiking opportunities. Then onto Rorke’s Drift, for a tour of the Zulu Battlefields. This is often underestimated as an experience: a guided tour with a local historian often leaves visitors in tears: the story is compelling. Next, a safari at one of South Africa’s top Big 5 Game Reserves, before ending up at a beautiful beach retreat, where various activities are on offer including diving, ocean experiences, snorkelling, kayaking and turtle tours (Nov-March), before a final few days relaxing on the beach at a 5 star boutique hotel in Durban.

From £3,370 per person in low season. Based on two people sharing, excluding international flights ex-London, accommodation, luxury Car Hire (with no excess).The cost includes 5 star minimum graded accommodation, usually in chic boutique guesthouses or hotels.
