Itinerary

Day 1-3: Arrive in Windhoek & head into Sossusvlei
Depart from Windhoek by air and spend two nights exploring the Sossusvlei region, staying in Kulala Wilderness Reserve, which provides convenient access to the splendour of the towering red dunes of the Namib. Activities at Kulala Desert Lodge start with morning guided game drives to the spectacular dunes of Sossusvlei, through a private gate into the Park, allowing early arrival at the dunes thereby maximising photographic opportunities and scenic grandeur.
Days 4-6: Fly in to Damaraland
You will be transferred back to the airstrip in time to board your scheduled light aircraft flight into the heart of Damaraland. Departure will be at 09h15am from Kulala where your flight takes you north over the famous Sossusvlei dunes and the great sand sea towards to coast, where (weather dependent) you will see deserted mines, shipwrecks and seal colonies on the way up towards Sandwich Harbour and the port of Walvis Bay. You will then stop by the coastal resort of Swakopmund to refuel.
Days 6-7: Venture deeper into Damaraland
This morning you will have an early departure from Camp Kipwe as you make your way north deeper into the heart of Damaraland. En route you will visit an extremely remote Himba village, only known to a few people (Ultimate Safaris being one of them).
Your guide’s presence and contacts with the local community will ensure you will be welcomed as a ‘friend of a friend’ and that you will be able to spend considerable time there learning about these fascinating nomadic pastoralists. There has been virtually no modern influence on these communities, which makes for a fascinating cultural exchange.
Day 8: Back to Windhoek
After breakfast this morning you will make your way south from the Etosha National Park through the small towns of Outjo and Otjiwarongo before stopping at the Okonjima Day Centre. You will arrive in time for lunch before embarking on an exciting and informative game drive and tour of the centre.
Here you will learn about the function and vision of the AfriCat Foundation and will also get to meet some of the Foundation’s special carnivore ambassadors. After the excursion and freshening up, the journey continues further south to arrive back in Windhoek in the late afternoon, just as the sun is setting.
